The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) intends to procure by competitive process certain services provided for under the EU co-financed Rural Development Programme Measure entitled “Targeted Advisory Service on Animal Health” included in the Ireland’s National/EU co-financed National Rural Development Plan 2014 – 2020 (extended to 2022).
The objective of the Parasite Control Strategy for Bovine and Ovine farms is to support cattle and sheep farmers in addressing antiparasitic resistance through increased veterinary involvement in parasite control and the provision of best practice advice. This will be done by means of an on-farm parasite control veterinary advisory measure for ruminant livestock. The measure will assist in identifying non effective treatments, reducing the frequency of treatments where necessary, and increase the capacity for monitoring and testing as part of a health plan.
