II.1.4) Trumpas aprašymas:
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been commissioned by the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) to support civil society actors in their ability to stabilise selected areas in Syria by strengthening their capacities, networks, and independence, and by supporting them with the implementation of local initiatives that promote social cohesion, conflict prevention and resilience against extremist influences. The project commissioned is called "Support to Stabilisation and Civil Society in Syria" (USZS) and aims to improve people"s living conditions and create the foundation for increased political and social participation, thereby assisting the preparation of a local, inclusive, and peaceful transition process in Syria.
In the Syrian context, GIZ operates through a mode of remote management, meaning that all activities inside Syria are conducted via partner organisations. Activities of USZS are conducted under the following three components:
1. Deradicalization and Conflict-Transformation (DCT), which aims to improve the conditions for reintegration of returnees, and to strengthen civil society initiatives at a local level, with special focus on women and youth groups.
2. A social cohesion and resilience component, wherein civil society actors are strengthened and spaces for social participation at community levels created.
3. Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM), wherein USZS reacts quickly to most pressing short-term needs such as escalations of violence, forced displacement, public health emergencies and natural disasters, through the provision of urgently needed material goods to selected areas in Syria.
