      Aalto University School of Chemical Engineering has a Bruker Avance III 400 MHz NMR spectrometer for liquid-state and solidstate NMR. The device requires an update to fulfill the current needs of scientific research. The magnet of the NMR spectrometer (Ultrashield Plus, 9.4 T) is operational and does not need to be updated. The Ultrashield Plus magnet including cryomedia transfer lines and RT shim system will be reused. In addition, an existing 10mm liquid-state probe can be utilized. The scope of the upgrade will cover the NMR console, liquid and solid-state probes, autosampler, gas cooler unit, spinners and automatic sample changer for solid samples. The procurement also includes a helium recovery system for collecting helium boiloff from the NMR magnet. The recovered helium can be re-used or returned to a gas supplier. Use of a helium recovery system is responsible and sustainable due to global shortage of helium which is a scarce non-renewable resource. The detailed requirements that the NMR upgrade shall meet: - Cabinet with two channels (plus lock channel) with capability for liquid-state and solid-state NMR experiments. - 5mm liquid-state X-nuclei optimized double resonance broadband probe for X-nuclei observation with 1H decoupling and 1H observation. BB range at least: 19F, 31P-109Ag. The probe must be equipped with an automatic tuning and matching unit supporting tuning and matching of all channels and frequencies. - Probe temperature control unit for cooling the sample temperature down to at least 0 °C. The maximum sample temperature must be +150 °C or higher. - 4mm double resonance (1H/X) CPMAS probe, MAS controller and system for fully automated solid-state NMR. BB range at least: 31P to 15N. The probe must be equipped with an automatic tuning and matching unit and an automated magic angle adjustment. - Automated sample changer with at least 24 sample positions and (at least) 24 spinners. - MAS shuttle for CPMAS (for fully automated solid-state NMR). The helium recovery system must offer a recovery rate of >75% and ensure safe operation. The helium recovery system must be such that all existing NMR magnets can be connected to it.
