GIZ as a Technical Assistance (TA) partner advises the African Union (AU) on regional infrastructure development since 2010 with evolving support on organizational development, process advisory, infrastructure project preparation, private sector engagement and the promotion of employment creation. GIZ supports the AU Commission (AUC) on policy level and the AU Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) on implementation level as its direct cooperation partners in regards to the AU"s Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA, www.pida.africa).
The current GIZ Support Programme Green Infrastructure Corridors for intra-African Trade has the strategic objective to strengthen partner capacities to support green infrastructure projects in trade relevant integrated corridors. This GIZ TA phase is geographically concentrated on the Central Corridor (CC) in Eastern Africa. Thus, in addition to AUC and AUDA-NEPAD, GIZ implements certain activities of this phase with CCTTFA (Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency) which owns the Secretariat function in the CC.
Specifically, the GIZ Support Programme Green Infrastructure Corridors for intra-African Trade advises the AU (i.e. AUC, AUDA-NEPAD) + CCTTFA on the following three Outputs (does not reflect Outputs of this Consultancy):
1. Development of a Continental Green Infrastructure Policy for trade relevant integrated Corridors
2. Advisory for Climate Resilient and Low Carbon Infrastructure Project Development in the Central Corridor via the Service Delivery Mechanism (i.e., the SDM is an operational technical advisory instrument of AUDA-NEPAD to bring infrastructure projects towards bankability)
3. Launch of Call for Digital Solutions for SMEs to promote Green Infrastructure Development and intra-African Trade
