In the regional sub-strategy for the technology area, the South Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority specifies digital home follow-up as one of four priority areas within the ambition to use new technology for better health care.
The patient can, to a greater degree, be an active participant in their own treatment by facilitating patient and user participation through digital channels. Follow-up and treatment is currently governed by the calendar to a large degree, and governed by needs and events to a lesser degree. It will also be important to facilitate increased cooperation on the patient across sectors.
In general, the gains from digital home follow-up are as follows:
-Increased therapist capacity, through reduced admittance times, and reduced admissions and outpatients consultations per patient.
-Reduced climate footprint through reduced transport needs.
-Increased patient contribution and satisfaction.
