II.1.4) Trumpas aprašymas:
With this market consultation / prior information notice Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) surveys the market and requests information from suppliers concerning the procurement of Eddy Covariance systems.
Requirements for the Eddy covariance (CO2, H2O) system planned to be purchased by the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke):
The aim is to purchase one Eddy Covariance (EC) system at the end of 2024 or early 2025 for the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). This measurement equipment will provide new research data for the development of climate-friendly land use practices (e.g. forestry, agriculture), which allows climate change mitigation and adaptation. Specifically, this equipment will be used at a former peat extraction location which will be transformed into a paludicultural plantation.
The EC system must include the following set of instruments.
1. Infrared gas analyzer (IRGA) measuring CO2 and H2O concentration at 10 Hz frequency
2. A three-dimensional heated research sonic anemometer – wind velocity components at 10 Hz frequency
3. Air temperature and humidity
4. Photosynthetically active radiation and net radiation balance with short wave and long wave components
5. Soil heat flux plates – 3 sets
6. Soil temperature and moisture sensors – 3 sets or minimum 40cm profile probe
7. Soil oxygen sensor, – 3 sets
8. Water table sensor
9. Barometric pressure
10. Snow depth gauge
11. Rain gauge
12. A Crop phenology camera
13. Data acquisition system with local data storage
14. 4G modem for data transfer and remote connection
Additionally, an adjustable instrumentation tower/tripod up to 5 m measurement height is of interest, preferably with an elevator mechanism for maintaining the instruments.
For the quantification of greenhouse gas (GHG) sources and sinks, the measurements of GHG fluxes are essential. Two most commonly used methods for observing ecosystem-atmosphere GHG exchange are chamber measurement technique and the EC technique. The EC method measures the vertical turbulent transport of GHGs by observing high frequency turbulent fluctuations of gas concentrations and wind velocity and the measured transport equals net transfer of GHGs between the underlying ecosystem and the atmosphere. The EC technique is often preferred over the chamber measurement technique due to its ability to measure fluxes continuously at an ecosystem scale. Additionally, EC observations contain detailed information on short-term variation of the flux, having high precision with high sampling rate and short response time. The continuous measurements help us in understanding the impact of land use and interannual variability due to varying short weather changes and annual climate. Such understanding is necessary in the context of Finland due to the fast-changing climate in the northern latitudes. The data gained from such measurements will be useful in steering the way towards climate-friendly land use in these northern latitudes.
