The Leibniz-Institute for Food Systems Biology at the Technical University of Munich intends to place an order based on this service description for the delivery, assembly, installation, instruction and complete commissioning of a two-dimensional gas chromatography-time-of-flight mass spectrometry system (GC×GC-TOF/MS system) with an EI ion source and a liquid nitrogen GCxGC thermomodulator. Furthermore, a secondary GC oven should be available for separate heating of the 2nd GC column (2nd dimension). It must be possible to inject samples into the gas chromatograph in the first dimension using an autosampler. The scope of services must also include the delivery and installation of the supply lines for the gases to the gas chromatographs (nitrogen, helium) and the thermomudulator. Furthermore, the contractor requires a computer with a monitor and software for measuring operation and data analysis. In addition to the generally required functionality, the GC×GC-TOF/MS system must meet all of the specifications listed below. It is expected that the system can be kept up to date through regular software updates until the end of its useful life. A stable, future-proof hardware platform is otherwise assumed. Delivery is free of charge to the point of use on the ground floor (85354 Freising). All components must be fully integrated into the overall system. The specifications for the individual components of the GC×GC-TOF/MS system must meet the following minimum requirements: 1. capillary gas chromatograph: - cold-on-column injector - constant-flow rate control - helium as carrier gas - secondary GC oven A secondary GC oven must be installed in the GC oven so that the 2nd dimension can be heated at a temperature different from the 1st oven. 2. Thermomodulator Cryofocusing at -150 °C using a thermomodulator To guarantee cryofocussing of highly volatile substances after the first GC column to the second GC column, we need a thermomodulator that can reach temperatures of -150°C. 3. Mass spectrometer: - time-of-flight mass spectrometer - mass range of 10-1500 amu - Ionization techniques required: - electronic ionization (EI) 4. Autosampler for liquid injection (1 – 10 µl syringe) and SPME - Peltier-tempered sample tray holder (10 °C – 40 °C) - Sample tray for 2 ml vials - On-column syringes - SPME equipment: - SPME holder (manual tool change) - Baking station for SPME fiber 5. Gas supply lines - Installation for the two gas chromatographs (nitrogen and helium) and to the cold trap (distance between gas cocks and device approx. 1.5 m) 6. Control PC with software - Control PC including suitable software for measurement operation and data analysis, at least 23-inch TFT monitor with mouse and keyboard
