The Norwegian Seafood Council works systematically with market insights, market development, market stand-by and reputation building in selected markets around the world. The Norwegian Seafood Council also actively works in the United States, and therefore needs to follow the development of the seafood market closely. Store data that is collected via the POS system in the grocery trade provides a robust picture of seafood sales, especially in a modern grocery market such as the United States. The Norwegian Seafood Council shall cover all types of seafood, and hereby the spectrum of categories and products in the deliveries is important. It is also important to have data back in time in order to be able to follow the long-term sales trends. Data must be delivered as raw data and loaded into the Norwegian Seafood Council's own systems for further analysis. The Seafood Council has purchased data from Nielsen in the US since 2016. Comprehensive data structure has been carried out to adapt data to the Seafood Council's data structure.
